Projects In Development
Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba, Canada
New Energy Corporation has been awarded a contract from the Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP) to provide a power generation system to the Sagkeeng First Nation community in Manitoba. The Sagkeeng First Nation community will be the first community in Canada to receive the company's new 25kW EnviroGen™ hydrokinetic power generation system. This project is an excellent demonstration of community capacity building with Canadian clean tech using renewable resources.
This project has been in development since 2016, when the program was first initiated. New Energy’s team installed cabling and anchor blocks in the Fall of 2021, with full installation expected to be in the Spring of 2022.
Electrifying Rural Philippines: 400 kW Virtual Village
New Energy has identified a significant, “demand pull” high need market sector in the remote communities throughout the developing world. This market is currently not being adequately served by products that meet the real need of these communities. Solar or wind on their own may provide intermittent power, but this is not sufficient for critical uses such as refrigeration. New Energy’s vertical axis, floating technology are the perfect fit for these types of applications as they are simple in design and are easy to install and maintain.
Community Sustainability Through Renewable Energy
Working in close collaboration with local parters, New Energy has developed a “Virtual Village” project model for what a typical hybrid renewable energy project for the average village in the Philippines. This model takes into consideration the typical energy demand of an average remote village in the Philippines and provides a hybrid-based renewable energy solution given the resources available. Upon completion of smaller scale pilot projects in collaboration with Local Government Units (LGU’s) of the Philippines, New Energy intends to implement said “Virtual Villages” in a large, commercial scale model.
Bay of Fundy Tidal Energy Project
Under agreement with the Nova Scotia Department of Energy & Mines, New Energy is currently developing an 800 kW tidal energy project in the Bay of Fundy. This project is an exciting step for New Energy as it marks being a part of the first large-scale tidal energy project in Canada as well as being involved in a long-term (15 year) Power Purchase Agreement for the sale and distribution of the power produced to the Nova Scotia grid. This aligns with New Energy’s strategy to specialize in being both a technology provider as well as an Independent Power Producer (IPP).
To minimize risk and complete the project with the highest level of certainty, the project will be conducted following a staged approach that includes an initial pilot installation using New Energy’s existing and proven 25kW (re-rated to 50kW) power generation hardware. This initial pilot phase involves the installation of two 25/50kW EnviroGen Power Generation systems, that once proven, will set the stage for the scale up and full build out phases, consisting of the installation of three 250kW units, by proving out all steps required to assemble, deploy, interconnect, and operate the power plant without incurring the potential high costs of having to rework the processes and procedures with the larger systems.
